Oh you persuaded me! Government is bad and free market is good.
Yeah taxes do nothing at all!

--deep sigh-- as always, you miss the point. The point isn't that taxes do nothing at all, the point is that the ostensive reason for the taxes--help the poor, the infirm, the downtrodden--is not the real reason.

But go on believing that, if only we had people with the right intentions, a big, fat, giant government will help everyone.

Taxes pay for roads, streetlights, health care, military services, infrastructure, social services for vulnerable people, business loans, police and fire services, highways, impoverished countries, peacekeeping initiatives, enviroment etc... I could go on and on!
I think the point was weak if not moot to begin with! We live in a society, In order to have the things any society has we have to pay for them!
I would be pissed at the tax breaks oil companies get if I were to really complain about unfair tax.

How about you don't get in a whirlwind over Canadians being overcharged since our dollar hit parity?
Is it because taxes goto the BIG BAD GOVERNMENT and that other money goes to some rich individual asshole?
I dub thee parochial!

In New Brunswick, they raise taxes so that they can give out more corporate welfare grants to government friendly firms and pay more consultants to study issues.

A vicious cycle indeed.
