Holy shit

Supreme Court strikes down Quebec law against private insurance. Doesn't result in cross-Canada legalization of health care acts between consenting adults. Not sure what it all means just yet, the ruling is a little complicated. (4 to 3 ruling: Appeal upheld).

Google News hits for "Chaoulli"

It's about bloody time. Now everytime that some Canadian looks down at me with that practiced air of supercilious moral superiority I can drop science on Jacques Chaoulli and thumb my nose at the inexorable and earth-shatteringly dramatic shift to the odious and noxious American way of life. And then, just to hammer home how different we folk to the south is, I'll make a lot of 'eh' and 'about' jokes while calling the Canadians a bunch of pacifist socialist pussies who should be grateful we saved their asses in the two World Wars.

Booyahkashala!

JZA: Agreed! Great news today. I hope you're right that it really is a snowball.

Peter: Makes you sad? It should make you ecstatic. People will no longer have to wait so long for care, I would think that would appeal to your more sentimental leftie side... ;)

Song: We are still morally superior. For very many reasons. I will name just one: We like puppies more than you Americans, who run puppy mills.
